Los Angeles Master Chorale has launched its Youth Chorus LA.

The ensemble, which features 60 young singers from East Los Angeles and Huntington Park, will have its first-ever performance on Dec. 16, 2024 at 6 p.m. at The Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza.

“This is a watershed moment in the history of the LA Master Chorale and choral music in Los Angeles,” said Grant Gershon, Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director, in an official press release. “Creating a joy-filled, holistic choral program accessible to all young people in the L.A. metropolitan area has been a dream of mine for years. I’m incredibly grateful to and inspired by our director, Sarah Gonzalez, and all of our supporters who have helped to make this dream a reality.”
The pilot program for the youth chorus commenced in March 2024 with 60 students from grades three through five. The ensemble was officially launched in October and convenes for weekly rehearsals. Participating schools include Lucille Roybal-Allard Elementary School, Huntington Park Elementary, Soto St. Elementary, San Antonio Elementary, and Don Julian Elementary School.
