The Los Angeles Master Chorale is set to honor Artistic Director Grant Gershon in a gala performance on March 23, 2022 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Gershon will be celebrating his 20th anniversary with the organization. He has led the ensemble in over 200 performances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Gershon also led the Master Chorale in a historic performance at the Salzburg in 2019. He is the founder of the Master Chorale’s Swan Family Artist-in-Residence position.

The program will feature music by Bach, di Lasso, Reena Esmail, Saunder Choi, Nilo Alcala, Eric Whitacre, Shawn Kirchner and Dale Trumbore, among others.

“Grant’s passion for choral music reminds us all of the joy of making music together,” said Jean Davidson, President and CEO, Los Angeles Master Chorale, in an official press statement. “His dedication to the Master Chorale and dynamic presence on the podium have inspired singers, instrumentalists and audiences throughout the world for the past two decades. It is an honor to celebrate this milestone as we look towards a hopeful future under Grant’s directorship.”

Prior to his time with the Master Chorale, Gershon served as an assistant conductor at the Los Angeles Philharmonic between 1994-97. He also served as Resident Conductor of the Los Angeles Opera until 2012 when he stepped down to devote more time to the Master Chorale.
