The Los Angeles Master Chorale is set to bring back its High School Choir Festival at Grand Park.

The showcase, which will be entering its 33rd year, will take place on April 29, 2022. It will feature over 500 high school students from 18 schools who will perform music by Sam Cooke, Sara Bareilles, Reena Esmail, and Händel. They will be joined by 16 members of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, who will be conducted by Jenny Wong.

“Singing is an inherently communal activity, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale is overjoyed to return to an in-person festival, especially for the students, who will finally be able to enjoy the full benefits of this experience since the COVID-19 pandemic began,” said Grant Gershon, the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s Artistic Director. “This year’s festival is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the teachers, choir directors and students involved.”

Participating schools include Arroyo High School, Azusa High School, Baldwin Park High School, Bellflower High School, Birmingham Community Charter High School, Crescenta Valley High School, El Camino Real Charter High School, El Monte High School, Gabrielino High School, Granada Hills Charter High School, Mira Costa High School, Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, Rosemead High School, Rubidoux High School, Taft Charter High School, Torres East LA Performing Arts Magnet, and Venice High School.
