By Francisco Salazar

Lorenzo Viotti has apologized for a nude picture that he posted on his Instagram page which is followed by 112,000 people.

In a recent post, the conductor said, “One of my posts in the last month was troubling for some and I understand people have different values and believes so I decided to remove the post. Sometimes it’s better to take a step back. My social media presence revolves around my ultimate passion, classical music, alongside other cherished aspects of my life such as family, friends, sports, fashion, and the value of freedom. We live and we learn and I will never stop learning 🙏🏻.”

The picture was posted on July 16 and had the caption “pas de deux.”

Viotti recently stepped down in April from the Dutch National Opera where he was Music Director. In a statement, he said, “I have decided to give priority in the future to my personal life and development in which I am the master of my own time. I look forward to treading new paths in this soon, after a wonderful adventure of four years as chief conductor. My relationship with the musicians, chorus members, colleagues and, of course, the audience and the city of Amsterdam will always be there.”
