Longborough Opera Festival Announces 2025 Season

The Longborough Opera Festival has announced its 2025 season.

Justin Brown will conduct the UK premiere of Avner Dorman’s 21st century opera “Wahnfried: The Birth of the Wagner Cult,” a dramatic saga telling the remarkable story of the Wagner family. It stars Susan Bullock, Mark Le Brocq, Meeta Raval, Andrew Watts, Alexandra Lowe, Oskar McCarthy, David Horton, and Antoin Herrera-López Kessel. Polly Graham directs.

Performance Dates: May 27 – June 14, 2025

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will also be performed. It stars Lauren Young, Joseph Doody, Benjamin Bevan, Trevor Eliot Bowes, and Shafali Jalota. Elaine Kelly conducts and Louise Bakker directs.

Performance Dates: June 8 – July 13, 2025

The season will include Debussy’s “Pelléas et Mélisande” with Anthony Negus conducting. The opera features the talents of Brett Polegato, Kateryna Kasper, Karim Sulayman, Catherine Carby, James Platt, and Pauls Putnins. Jenny Ogilvie directs.

Performance Dates: June 28 – July 10, 2025

Closing out the season is “Dido and Aeneas.” It stars Camilla Seale, Sam Young, Lydia Shariff, Jasmine Flicker, Lara Rebekah Harvey, Myrna Tennant, Samantha Hargreaves, and Tomo Owen Jones. Bjarte Eike conducts and Erlend Samnøen directs.

Performance Dates: July 26 – August 2, 2025
