Longborough Festival Opera Founders Win Wagner Society’s Top Prize

By David Salazar

The Wagner Society has awarded its Reginald Goodall Award to the Longborough Festival Opera’s co-founders Martin and Lizzie Graham.

The Grahams are set to receive The Reginald Goodall award at a ceremony at The Royal Over-Seas League in London on March 20, 2019.

The award is given to individuals who have honored the famed composer and his work. Among those previously honored with this accolade are conductor Bernard Haitink, maestro Sir Antonio Pappano, English bass Sir John Tomlinson, and legendary tenor-turned-baritone Plácido Domingo. Another recipient was Longborough Festival Opera’s own Music Director Anthony Negus, who received the Reginald Goodall award in 2017.

“Martin and I are delighted to receive this award on behalf of the whole team at Longborough who work so hard to make Wagner successful here, and are currently helping to put our new Ring cycle in place,” Lizzie Graham noted in a press release.
