London Symphony Orchestra Appoints Benjamin Marquise Gilmore & Andrej Power as New Concertmasters

By Logan Martell

The London Symphony Orchestra has announced that violinists Benjamin Marquise Gilmore and Andrej Power have joined as their new concertmasters, effective August 2023.

Since 2019, Gilmore has served as concertmaster of the Philharmonia Orchestra, and has been a member of the Navarra Quartet since 2021. A graduate of the Vienna Conservatoire under Pavel Vernikov and Julian Rachlin, Gilmore has been a fellow of Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute since 2015, and from 2016 to 2019 was leader of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Power has served as principal concertmaster with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 2014, when he became the youngest person to hold that position in the company’s history. He is a frequent guest-leader of several orchestras and chamber groups.

Both will join current concertmaster Roman Simovic when they begin their new roles.
