Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Announces New Music Director

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has announced that Dr. Edward-Rhys Harry will join the festival as its ninth music director.

The organization announced that Edward, an internationally renowned music director, will work to encourage the next generation of solo artists at the 2019 Llangollen Eisteddfod.

In a press release Chairman of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, Dr Rhys Davies, said, “As a team, we are ecstatic to have someone of Edward’s stature joining us, we’re excited to discover the direction he will take us in. We hope to utilize Edward’s extensive international experience to further the International Eisteddfod’s reputation and standing on a global stage. We echo Edward’s call for more solo acts and pride ourselves on welcoming those who will relish the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Harry said, “I am fortunate that my career has taken me around the globe, which gives me an affinity towards the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, coming back to my Welsh roots in Llangollen which welcomes the world every year.”

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfodw is set to take place from July 1-7, 2019.
