Liz Bouk To Present ‘New Beginnings’ In NYC

Mezzo-soprano Liz Book is set to showcase a program entitled “New Beginnings” on April 3, 2019, at the Lounge at Dixon Place in New York.

The concert performance will feature a number of arias that showcases Bouk’s life as a transgender opera singer. There will be arias from “The Rape of Lucretia,” “The Ballad of Baby Doe,” “Der Rosenkavalier,” as well as excerpts from “As One” and “Tabula Rasa.” The event will feature pianist Kathryn Olander.

Bouk recently put on a show about the challenges of his transition in “Mr. Liz: Living in the In-Between” which was promptly followed by performances of “As One” at Alamo City Opera. Later this season, Bouk is headed to St. Petersburg Opera to perform in “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi.”

Other performances for Bouk include the world premiere of “Stonewall” with the New York City Opera, followed by “Princess Maleine” at the Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble.
