Livermore Valley Opera Artistic Director Erie Mills is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Opera Association.

Mills, who commenced her tenure as the head of Livermore Valley Opera in 2016, is a soprano who has performed with such organizations as the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, English National Opera, San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and the New York City Opera, among others. She now teaches privately in San Francisco and was a faculty member of the San José State University. Additionally, she also serves on the board of various music organizations, including the Board of Directors of Opera America.

“I am thrilled to join this wonderful group of people, and I thank the National Opera Association for this honor,” Mills said per a report from Independent News. “Opera has been a part of my life for almost 50 years. I love the medium and I want others to enjoy it as much as I do.”

Mills will be presented with the award at the National Opera Association’s national conference this January.
