By Logan Martell

Live Music Now has announced the appointment of Janet Fischer in the newly-created role of Chief Executive, and Nina Swann as Executive Director. The appointments are aimed at expanding the company’s reach and impact.

A soprano and violinist, Fischer has served as CEO of numerous cultural organizations and was named the Behrens Foundation Global Humanitarian Entrepreneur of 2019. She has worked on matters of social engagement, cohesion, and inclusion for companies such as Fundación Azteca in Mexico, and Sistema de Orquestras de Guatemala.

For over 20 years, Swann has devised and managed inclusive music programs at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the London Symphony Orchestra. With LMN, she was previously the Musicians’ Development Director and Director of the South East Branch.

“Live Music Now’s trustees are delighted to welcome Janet to the newly created role of Chief Executive,” LMN Chair Sir Vernon Ellis stated in a press release. “She impressed all of us with her insight, sector knowledge, energy and passion for our work that will prove invaluable as we increase the charity’s impact to ensure that more people can access live music’s power to change lives. This is a good opportunity to thank Nina for doing such a great job as acting Executive Director throughout the pandemic, ensuring that our freelance musicians have been supported and that our work continues throughout the country despite the challenges posed during these challenging times.”
