Teatro Real to Present the World’s First Opera Live in the Metaverse

By Chris Ruel

Teatro Real will make history as the world’s first opera house to present a live opera in the metaverse–an immersive virtual 3D environment where humans can have experiences outside the physical world.

On Mar. 17, 2023, at 7:30 pm CET, the company will offer free viewing of Shostakovich’s “The Nose.”

Using your avatar, you can watch the Barrie Kosky production directed by Mark Wigglesworth in the “Royal Meta-Theatre,” a 3D replica of the Teatro Real located in Uttopion, the first Spanish metaverse.

To enter Uttopion, you only need to connect from a computer or tablet. No other gear is necessary. Uttopion supports two communities, Musichood for music events and Sportsvilla for sports.
