Following the postponement of “Anna Bolena” at the Lithuanian Opera, the company will open the production on Oct. 4.

The showcase, which was originally set to open on August 25, will star Francesca Sassu in the title role and Raffaella Lupinacci in her role debut as Giovanna Seymour. Michele Angelini and Tadas Girininkas round out the first cast.

The second cast will star Joana Gedmintaitė in the title role and Justina Gringytė as Giovanna.

Andrea de Rosa directs the production with Sesto Quatrini conducting.

“Anna Bolena” was composed in just one month and marked the then-33-year-old composer’s 29th opera; “Anna Bolena” then turned out to be his breakout work. This new production will mark the first local production of Donizetti’s masterpiece.

“Anna Bolena” will be showcased a total of five times and will run through Oct. 17, 2020.
