Nadine Sierra has canceled two performances of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at the Opera National de Paris.

The Opera National de Paris announced that the soprano canceled the June 24 and 27 performances due to illness. As a result, Lisette Oropesa will replace Sierra.

Oropesa is one of the most acclaimed Gildas as she has sung the role all over the world. She has performed the role over 40 times in the past nine years in seven productions and one concert. She has performed it at the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper and Dutch National Opera among others.

Oropesa was currently preparing a revival of Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” at the Glyndebourne Festival which opens in July. She is also scheduled to return to the Royal Opera House for a revival of Lucia di Lammermoor.

Sierra returns to the stage in July for performances in “Rigoletto” in Orange and will participate in the annual Le Concert de Paris at the Eiffel Tower before heading to the United States for the Ravinia Festival. She is slated to open the Royal Opera House this fall in the role of Musetta. It will mark her house debut.
