The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées has announced that Lisette Oropesa’s Paris concert with mezzo-soprano Aya Wakizono and the Orchester National d’Auvergne on Jan. 11, 2021 has been canceled.

Per an official statement, the reason for the cancellation is the fact that the orchestra is not authorized to travel during the month of January due to broad COVID-19 restrictions in France.

Oropesa recently performed at the opening night gala at the Teatro alla Scala and is currently performing in a production of “La Traviata” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The soprano is scheduled to perform this season at the Opernhaus Zurich and at the Arena di Verona.

The French government has extended the lockdown imposed on Oct. 28, 2020, as the country recently logged 17,615 new COVID-19 cases.
