Lisette Oropesa & Juan Diego Flórez To Open The 2020-21 Season at Teatro Alla Scala

The superintendent at the Teatro alla Scala Dominique Meyer has confirmed that Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” will open the 2020-21 season on Dec. 7, 2021.

In an interview with La Reppublica, Meyer said, the opera will star Lisette Oropesa and Juan Diego Flórez. Music Director of the Teatro alla Scala Riccardo Chailly will conduct the production by Yannis Kokkos.

Meyer also confirmed, that prior to the start of 2020-21 season opening, in November, the theater will present its first fully staged production after an eight month long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company will present Puccini’s “La bohème,” in November, in the famed production by Franco Zeffirelli to conclude the 2019-20 season.
