The Teatro alla Scala has announced the gala concert for Dec. 7, 2020.

The concert will be streamed online and TV and without an audience and will feature soloists Lisette Oropesa and Juan Diego Florez, who were originally scheduled to open the theater in a new production of “Lucia di Lammermoor.” The concert will also see Vittorio Grigolo, Francesco Meli, Ildar Abdrazakov, Placido Domingo, Benjamin Bernheim, Roberto Alagna, Aleksandra Kurzak, Elina Garanca, Sonya Yoncheva, Andreas Schager, Jonas Kaufmann, Placido Domingo, Carlos Alvarez, Piotr Beczala, Eleonora Buratto, Marianne Crebassa, Rosa Feola, Marina Rebeka, Ludovic Tezier, George Petean, Rosa Feola, Camilla Nylund, and Kristine Opolais.

The showcase will be directed by Davide Livermore, who directed last season’s “Tosca” and will be conducted by Riccardo Chailly.

The Teatro alla Scala will formally announce the gala performance on Nov. 25 through a streamed video conference.

The renowned theater was forced to cancel its opening night performance earlier this month as Italy has seen a surge in Coronavirus cases and has extended its lockdown. The country has 1,431,795 confirmed cases and 50,453 confirmed deaths.
