Lisette Oropesa, Joyce DiDonato, Kristine Opolais, Jonathan Tetelman, Michael Spyres Headline Theater an der Wien’s 2021-22 Season
By David SalazarThe Theater an der Wien has announced its 2021-22 season, which will include operas ranging from the baroque era through 2006.
First up will be Cavalieri’s “Rappresentatione di Anima et di Corpo,” which will be conducted by Giovanni Antonini and directed by Robert Carson. The work will star Anett Fritsch, Florian Boesch, Cyril Auvity, and Saniel Schmutzhard, among others.
Performance Dates: Sept. 19 – 29, 2021
Gluck’s “Orphée et Eurydice” will be conducted by Raphael Schluesselberg and directed by Philipp M. Krenn. Sofia Vinnik and Ekaterina Protsenko will star as the lovers with Miriam Kutrowatz and Anita Rosati alternating as L’Amour.

Christof Loy will direct a production of “Peter Grimes” starring Eric Cutler, Agneta Eichenholz, and Hanna Schwarz, among others. Thomas Guggeis conducts.

Peter Maxwell Davies’ “The Lighthouse” will star Andrew Morstein, Sebastià Peris, and Ivan Zinoviev. Michael Zlabinger conducts a production directed by Georg Zlabinger.

Handel’s “Giulio Cesare” will star Bejun Mehta, Louise Alder, Christophe Dumaux, and Patricia Barton, among others. Ivor Bolton conducts a production by Keith Warner.
