Lisette Oropesa & Javier Camarena to Sing ‘I Puritani’ in Gstaad

The Gstaad Menuhin Opera Festival has announced that Bellini’s “I Puritani” will be performed in concert.

The Swiss festival, which will pay tribute to the city of London, will showcase Bellini’s final work with Domingo Hindoyan conducting the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Lisette Oropesa will sing the role of Elvira while Javier Camarena will take on the role of Arturo.

The performance will reunite Oropesa and Camarena after their historical “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Teatro Real de Madrid. Oropesa is known for her Bel Canto roles including Lucia, Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia, the title role of “Adina,” Adina in “L’Elisir d’Amore, and Norina in “Don Pasquale.” Meanwhile, Camarena has performed the role of Arturo at the Metropolitan Opera and the Teatro Real. He is also well known for performing the works of Bellini, Rossini, and Donizetti.
