Lise Davidsen to Sing ‘Macbeth’ at the Metropolitan Opera
By Francisco SalazarThe Metropolitan Opera is set to open the 2026-27 season with Verdi’s “Macbeth.”
In a statement to the Associated Press, the Met noted that Davidsen would star in Verdi’s “Macbeth” opening the 2026-27 season on Sept. 22, 2026, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting.
The role is one of the many Davidsen will sing at the Met in the next seasons. The Met also announced that she will sing “Tristan und Isolde” during the 2025-26 season which opens on March 9, 2026. She will also sing Brünnhilde in the new production which Yuval Sharon will direct.
In a statement, Nézet-Séguin said, “I’m glad if Lisa Davidsen has chosen the Met as being her house of choice.”
Davidsen added, “I’m both happy and grateful that I get to work with the fantastic team at The Met, one of my favorite opera houses. I’ve no doubt that singing these roles for the Met’s wonderfully supportive audiences will be a thrilling and unforgettable experience.”
This season Davidsen will sing the role of “Tosca” and Leonore in “Fidelio.”
