Lise Davidsen & Brian Jagde Lead Metropolitan Opera’s ‘La Forza del Destino’

The Metropolitan Opera is set to present a new production of Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” on Feb. 26, 2024.

The new production will be directed by Mariusz Treliński, who previously directed “Iolanta,” Bluebeard’s Castle” and “Tristan und Isolde” at the Met. It also marks the return of the opera which has been absent at the company for 18 years.

The opera will star Lise Davidsen as Leonora and Brian Jagde as Don Alvaro. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct a cast that also includes Igor Golovatenko as Don Carlo, mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi as Preziosilla, bass-baritone Patrick Carfizzi as Fra Melitone, and bass Soloman Howard as both Leonora’s father and Padre Guardiano.

For t final three performances, soprano Elena Stikhina and mezzo-soprano Maria Barakova take over as Leonora and Preziosilla.

“La Forza del destino will open on Feb. 26 and will run through March 29, 2024. The performance on March 9, will be transmitted live to movie theaters around the globe as part of the Met’s Live in HD series. The Feb. 26, and March 9 and 29 performances will be broadcast live on the SiriusXM app.
