Lise Davidsen Announces Pregnancy & Withdrawal From Stage Until 2026
By Francisco SalazarLise Davidsen has announced that she is pregnant with twins and will therefore withdraw from her performances following the Metropolitan Opera’s “Fidelio” production.
In a statement, she said, “Unfortunately I have to cancel my shows for this year – after the middle of March – and I’m sorry for disappointing people who have already bought tickets. I’m cancelling for a happy reason: I’m expecting twins. I’m very excited about their arrival, and my new life with them.”
She added, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the leaders of the opera houses I was due to sing at, and my colleagues who I was due to be performing with: thank you for your kind words, understanding and support. I look forward to joining you all again soon. I’d also like to thank my fans and followers – in Norway, and all over the world – who have been so supportive in the ten years since I started my opera journey. I appreciate you more than words can say, and I thank you in advance for your patience as you wait for me to return. And last, but not least, I want to thank my family, who are as excited about this news as I am. I love you.”
Davidsen announced that she is planning on returning at the beginning of 2026 and will announce plans on her social media later this year.
Davidsen was set to star in productions at the Royal Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Verbier Festival, Tiroler Festspiele Erl, and Gran Teatre del Liceu.
