Lincoln Center at Home is set to present a unique concert experience on March 29, 2021 featuring one of opera’s greatest legends.

Jessye Norman: Women of Legend, Fantasy, and Lore” will kick off at 7:30 via Lincoln Center at Home’s official platform. The concert, which originally aired back in 1994 as part of “Live From Lincoln Center,” showcased the famed singer in a performance alongside Jane Glover and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

Norman performed such notable arias as “Mon cœur s’ouvre à ta voix,” from Saint-Saën’s “Samson et Dalila;” “Dido’s Lament” from Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas;” the iconic “Seguidilla” from Bizet’s “Carmen;” Haydn’s “Scena di Berenice;” a scene from Tchaikovsky’s “Joan of Arc;” an aria from Barber’s “Antony and Cleopatra;” the final scene from Strauss’ “Capriccio;” and a scene from Offenbach’s “La Perichole.”

Of her performance at the time, the Associated Press’ Mary Campbell noted in her review that “Norman showed with her gloriously expressive performance that a woman can feel vulnerable, but express it forcefully instead of meekly. Her voice was regal and rich, focused and controlled.”
