Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts has released details for its first-ever wellbeing summit, “Heartbeat.”
On Feb. 21, the community is invited to a multi-genre arts and wellbeing summit. The event brings together leading artists, healthcare professionals, and scientists for an afternoon of engaging live performances, movement sessions, expert-led wellbeing workshops, immersive virtual reality, and meditation.
Collaborators include resident arts organizations such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center Theater, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and the School of American Ballet.
As a lead-in to the summit, Lincoln Center will also present “Stories and Songs of Music and Health,” featuring Renée Fleming, Dr. Francis Collins, and special guests. Through conversation and collective singing, the program will explore the growing research behind the health benefits of music and the arts. This event is scheduled for Feb. 6.
Shanta Thake, Ehrenkranz Chief Artistic Officer, said in a press release, “We believe deeply that the health of our communities is a shared responsibility, and that the arts offer a vital blueprint for fostering collective wellbeing, Together with our friends across campus, we invite New Yorkers to experience the power of music, movement, and collective presence as catalysts for resilience and shared connection.”
