Libero Canto to Celebrate Bartók in ‘Ágról Ágra: from Branch to Branch’ Concert Tour

On June 15, 2023, Libero Canto will open their concert tour of Hungarian Folk songs honoring Béla Bartók.

Titled “Ágról Ágra: from Branch to Branch,” the a capella program will see a number of folk songs in their traditional forms, with arrangements by contemporary composers such as Song Yi Jeon, Guillermo Klein, and LC’s Marisa Michelson and Sara Serpa. There will also be original sarongs by Bartók.

The artists for the tour are Kinga Cserjési, Deborah Carmichael, Marisa Michelson, and Margot Bassett Silver.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Hungarian Scout Association in Exteris , Amagansett Life-Saving Station, and Public Art at Southampton Arts Center in honor of sculptor Strong-Cuevas. The tour will open at the Hungarian House in New York City, followed by Amagansett on June 17, and ending at Southampton on June 18.
