Leon Turner to Lead Prairie View A & M University’s Fine Arts Series

Prairie View A & M University will kick off its Fine Arts Series with a recital featuring bass-baritone Leon Turner.

The singer will take on music by such composers as W. A. Mozart, Francis Poulenc, and H. T. Burleigh; he will also present a group of Spirituals and Broadway selections.

The event, which is free to the public, will take place at the H. Edison Anderson Recital Hall in the Hobart T. Taylor Music Building.

Turner is an adjunct instructor at Prairie View A & M University. A native of Monroe, Louisiana, he has appeared with such organizations as Opera North of Lebanon, N.H., Fort Worth Opera of Forth Worth, Texas, Portland Opera of Portland Oregon, S.M.U. Opera Theatre, and N.L.U. Opera Workshop. He has also performed in masterclasses for such artists as Leontyne Price and Blanche Theborm.
