The Ópera de Tenerife has announced its 2019-20 featuring six operas, many rising stars, and one legendary artist.
Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” opens the season with Maria Rita Combattelli and Beatriz de Sousa sharing the role of Adina and Klodjan Kaҫani, and César Arrieta alternating as Nemorino. Alberto Bonifazio and Jacobo Ochoa Piedrahita alternate as Belcore, while Givi Gigineishvili and Matteo Andrea Mollica are Dulcamara. Antonio Méndez conducts the production by Pablo Maritano.

Leo Nucci brings his legendary interpretation of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with a cast that includes Leonor Bonilla as Gilda, Simon Orfila as Sparafucile, and David Astorga as the Duke. Philippe Auguin conducts.

Tenerife brings an intriguing double bill that includes “Der Diktator” and “Der Kaiser von Atlantis.” The cast is led by Bruno Taddia, Julian Orlishausen, David Astorga, Melody Louledjian, Francisco Crespo, Laura Verrecchia, Juan Antonio Sanabria, and Carmen Acosta. Pedro Halffter conducts the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife.

Mirco Palazzi, Yolanda Auyanet, Francesco Castoro, and Na´ama Goldman lead Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” with Andriy Yurkevych conducting a production by Silvia Paoli.

Silvia Zorita, Inés Lorans, Maria Ostroukhova, Jorge Franco, Matías Moncada, and Anna Kabrera sing Handel’s “Rinaldo” in a production by Stefania Panighini with Giovanni Paganelli conducting.

Rubén Sánchez-Vieco conducts Sorazábal’s “La Tabernera del Puerto” with a cast that includes Laura del Río, Pablo Gálvez, David Astorga, and Francisco Crespo.

The season concludes with the prestigious El Concurso Internacional de Canto “Ópera de Tenerife” where some of today’s rising stars will get an international platform.
