Leo Muscato Named Artistic Director of Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte
By Francisco SalazarLeo Muscato has been named the new Artistic Director of the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte.
Based in Montepulciano, Italy, Muscato will guid the artistic programing from 2027 until 2029, woking alongside Music Director Rubén Dubrowsky.
In a statement Muscato said, “It was immediately clear to me that the Cantiere has a reason to exist if it continues to protect its founding idea and, at the same time, manages to bring it into play in the present. I would like it to increasingly be a place where talented young artists are offered a concrete opportunity: not only to express themselves, but to take on a real professional responsibility for the first time. The first commission, the first opera direction, the first direction, the first set design, the first choreography, the first important role. What I like to call ‘the right to the first time’ will be one of the principles of our project.”
Muscato is a winner of the Premio Abbiati and has worked at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, and Theater Bonn, among others.
