Leeds Conservatoire has announced an autumn season celebrating song. Leeds Lieder Weekend of Song: Rediscovering Lieder is slated for Oct. 21-23, 2022, with all recitals to be performed at The Venue at Leeds Conservatoire.

The lineup of artists includes mezzo-soprano Kitty Whately, with pianist and Director of Leeds Lieder Joseph Middleton; the winners of this year’s Leeds Lieder/Schubert Institute UK Song Prize baritone Felix Gygli and pianist JongSun Woo; tenor James Gilchrist; and bass-baritone Ashley Riches. Joseph Middleton will accompany Gilchrist and Riches.

Leeds’ Weekend of Song will see the return of the popular Lieder Lounge, a relaxed music-making session that allows patrons to perform lieder themselves. In addition, participants of the school’s 2022 Young Artists Programme will showcase their talents in this fall’s concert series.
