Leah Crocetto To Star in ‘Norma’ At North Carolina Opera

North Carolina Opera is set to showcase a special concert performance of Bellini’s “Norma.”

For one afternoon only, that of Oct. 21, 2018, the company will perform the famed opera at the Meymandi Concert Hall at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

The opera will star Leah Crocetto in the iconic title role with Elizabeth DeShong as her rival Adalgisa. Chad Shelton will appear as Pollione. Both Shelton and DeShong are making their North Carolina Opera debuts. Antony Walker will make his company debut as the conductor of the performance.

“Norma is a touchstone work of bel canto repertory. Not only is the music beautiful, but it dazzles with both fire and ice in this classic story of love and revenge. Norma had its world premiere in 1831 and we are proud to present its long overdue Triangle premiere,” said NCO’s General Director Eric Mitchko in a press release.
