Leah Crocetto, Levy Sekgapane, Gaston Rivero & Selene Zanetti Lead Fondazione Petruzelli’s 2023 Season

The Fondazione Petruzelli has announced its 2023 season featuring eight productions.

The season will open with Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” with Cecilia Molinari, Amira Elmadfa, Levy Sekgapane, Cesar Cortes, Markus Werba, Gurgen Baveyan, Gianluca Buratto, Nicolò Donini, Marco Filippo Romano, and Stefano Marchisio. Stefano Montanari conducts Davide Livermore’s production.

Performance Dates: Jan. 22-29, 2023

Ian Storey, Elena Gabouri, Jane Archibald, Leah Gordon, Samuel Youn, and Joel Prieto star in Strauss’ “Salome” with Hartmut Haenchen conducting and Damiano Michieletto directing.

Performance Dates: Feb. 24-March 2, 2023

Alexander Vinogradov and Marko Mimica star in Verdi’s “Attila” with Simone Piazzola, Leo An, Leah Crocetto, Maria Tomassi, Fabio Sartori, and Diego Torre. Henrik Nánási conducts the production by Daniele Abbado

Performance Dates: April 21-28, 2023

Verdi’s “Otello” will star Marco Berti and Gaston Rivero in the title role. The production also stars Vladimir Stoyanov, Vittorio Vitelli, Vittoria Yeo, and Maria Teresa Leva. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Francesco Micheli.

Rebeka Lokar and Maida Hundeling star in Puccini’s “Turandot” with Ramaz Chikviladze, Andrea Comelli, Jorge de León, Gaston Rivero, Francesca Sassu, and Rocio Ignacio. Renato Palumbo conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept.13-21, 2023

Lance Ryan, Andreas Sager, Albert Pesendorfer, Betsy Horne, Jordanka Milkova, Benjamin Russell, and Aaron Cawley star in Wagner’s “Tannhäuser.” Patrick Lange conducts Uwe Eric Laufenberg’s production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 11-15, 2023

Britten’s “The Rape fo Lucretia” will star Moritz Kallenberg, Caterina Dellaere, Christian Senn, Stefanie Iranyi, Nicole Piccolomini, and Francesca Benitez. Christian Arming conducts the production by Yannis Kokkos.

Performance Dates: Nov. 15-21, 2023

Giacomo Sagripanti conducts Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Hugo de Ana directing. Selene Zanetti, Martina Gresia, Bianca Tognocchi, Francesca Pia Vitale, Ivan Ayon Rivas, Riccardo Della Sciucca, Mattia Olivieri, Luca Galli, Biagio Pizzuti, Marko Mimica, and Francesco Leone.

Performance Dates: Dec. 21-30, 2023

Concerts 

The season will include a chorus concert with music by Schmitt, Poulenc, and Strauss.

Hansjörg Albrecht conducts Eleonora Bellocci, Anke Vondung, Patrik Reiter, and Pavel Kudinov in Mozart’s “Requiem.”

Performance Date: March 23, 2023

Raffaele Pe performs a concert of music by Händel, Bianchi, Piccinni, Pollarolo, and Giacomelli.

Performance Date: June 20, 2023
