Citizens of Song will present “Christmas From Afar” featuring over 400 performers from around the world.

The event will feature two broadcasts, one on Dec. 19 and the other on Dec. 20. Each show will be broadcast twice, the first time for the Americas, Europe, and Africa; the second showing will be broadcast for Asia and Oceania.

The showcase will feature such opera artists as Leah Crocetto, Delcy, Nicolas Manservigi, and Ellen Williams, among many others.

Citizens of Song was founded by Rebecca Winckworth during her time in lockdown in Medellín, Colombia. Every night she would sing one song for neighbors from her balcony. From there she developed the online concert series which will now transform into its biggest project yet.

“Covid19 has been devastating to the livelihoods of our artists. Though our theatres are closed, the show simply must go on, we must keep our music and arts alive,” Winckworth noted in a press release. “I saw how my nightly song brought all my neighbors together for a moment of peace during these extremely different times and I thought to myself, I need to replicate this on an international level with global impact!”.
