The Festival de Pâques will present a night of baroque music to be live-streamed on March 31, 2021 at 8:30 p.m.

The performance will star mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre and counter-tenor Jakub Józef Orliński. The two singers will perform works by Jean-Philippe Rameau, Giulio Caccini, Henry Purcell, Georg Friedrich Händel, Thomas Dunford, Reynaldo Hahn, Antonio Vivaldi, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Claudio Monteverdi, and Cole Porter, among others. Baroque specialist William Christie will conduct Les Arts Florissants.

Lea Desandre recently performed the role of Despina in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” at the Salzburger Festspiele, and the role of Urbain in Meyerbeer‘s “Les Huguenots” at the Grand-Théâtre de Genève, among others. The mezzo-soprano is scheduled to go back to the stage for the run of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Festival Aix-en-Provence in June and July 2021.

Jakub Józef Orliński recently interpreted the title role in “Tolomeo, Re di Egitto” at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the role of Cyrus in Händel’s “Belshazzar” at the Opernhaus Zürich. The counter-tenor is slated to return to the stage for the run of Aucoin‘s “Eurydice” at the Metropolitan Opera House in November and December 2021.

The concert is a co-production of Festival de Pâques d’Aix-en-Provence, le Festival Dans les jardins de William Christie, le Théâtre impérial de Compiègne, and Teatros del Canal de Madrid.
