Lawrence Brownlee, Michelle Johnson, Diego Torre, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Brandie Sutton Headline Boston Lyric Opera’s 2024-25 Season

Boston Lyric Opera has announced its 204-25 season.

The season opens with James Darrah’s production of “Mitridate.” The opera stars Lawrence Brownlee, Brenda Rae, John Holiday, Vanessa Goikoetxea, Angela Yam, Alexis Peart, and Charles Sy. David Angus conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 13 & 15, 2024

Michelle Johnson stars in “Aida,” alongside Diego Torre, Alice Chung, Brian Major, Stefan Egerstrom, Morris Robinson, Chelsea Basler, and Fred. C VanNess, Jr. David Angus conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 10, 2024

Boston Lyric Opera teams up with Boston Symphony Orchestra to present “Die Tote Stadt” starring Christine Goerke, Neal Ferreira, and Elliot Madore. Andis Nelsons conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 30 & Feb. 1, 2025

Anthony Roth Costanzo is the star of “The Four Seasons,” a reimagining of Vivaldi’s iconic masterwork. The opera is presented in a new libretto by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Zack Winokur. Pam Tanowitz choreographs the work which is described by Ruhl as “a contemporary Baroque opera about the weather, inside and out,” that explores the lives of five artists who retreat to a remote farm to make art inspired by the beauty of nature. Their plans are then sabotaged by “increasingly extreme and erratic weather.”

Performance Dates: March 12-16, 2025

Carousel” will star Brandie Sutton, Jamie Barton, Anya Matanovic, Omar Najmi, Markel Reed, and Edward Nelson. David Angus conducts and Anne Bogart directs.

Performance Dates: April 4-13, 2025

The company will team up with the Boston Children’s Chorus, Boston String Academy, Back Bay Ringers, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and New England Conservatory Preparatory School at Symphony Hall to present “Noah’s Flood.
