
Lauren Snouffer Lead Atlanta Opera’s Production of ‘Semele’
By Francisco SalazarThe Atlanta Opera is set to present a new production of George Frideric Handel’s “Semele.”
The production, which opens on June 7, 2025, at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and runs through June 15, 2025 will be directed and produced by The Atlanta Opera’s Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. General and Artistic Director Tomer Zvulun.
Zvulum blends modern mythology and theatrical invention. Zvulum noted, “Semele is an opera of enormous beauty and psychological depth. This production closes a season that has been shaped by the theme of the ‘hero’s journey.’ We have assembled a world-class cast to bring this rarely produced gem to life. The creative team of this production has created a world of breathtaking beauty, and I look forward to sharing it with our audience in Atlanta.”
Conductor Christine Brandes leads the production with a cast that includes soprano Lauren Snouffer in the title role, tenor Josh Lovell as Jupiter, Catherine Martin, Nils Wanderer, William Guanbo Su, Elisa Sunshine, and Bailey Jo Harbaugh.
