
Laquita Mitchell to Perform with Berkeley Symphony

The performance is set to be performed at the First Congregational Church of Berkeley.
The program will be conducted by Ming Luke and will feature “Alma Monarca” by Juan Pablo Contreras, “The Four Last Songs” by Strauss with soloist Laquita Mitchell, and Missy Mazzoli’s Sinfonia (“for Orbiting Spheres”). The program closes with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9.
In a statement, Executive Director Marion Atherton said, “This program explores artistic voice at moments of transition—where memory, imagination, and transformation converge. Each piece invites us to cross boundaries, whether through cultural celebration, cosmic wonder, or the poignancy of human experience.”
