Laquita Mitchell, Ryan McKinny, Sasha Cooke, Caitlin Lynch, Alisa Jordheim Headline Music of Remembrance’s 2022-23 Season

Music of Remembrance has announced its 2022-23 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal and operatic performances.

First up is “Josephine,” a Monodrama by Tom Cipullo starring Laquita Mitchell. It will be directed by Erich Parce and conducted by Geoffrey Larson. The showcase will also be paired with “Wertheim Park,” a work by Lori Laitman and featuring Alisa Jordheim. The showcase will also include music by Max Vredenburg and Erwin Schulhoff.

Performance Date: Oct. 30, 2022 

Mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke will perform “Intonations: Songs from the Violins of Hope” by Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer. The showcase will feature violinist Mikhail Shmidt. The performance will be paired with “The Dybbuk Suite” as performed by dancers Kylie Lewallen and Joel Myers.

Performance Date: March 19, 2023 

Next up is “Concert,” a new opera by Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer starring Ryan McKinny. It will be paired with another Heggie-Scheer collaboration, “Another Sunrise.” That work will star Caitlin Lynch. Erich Parce directs and Joseph Mechavich conducts.

Performance Date: May 21 (Seattle premiere), 24 (San Francisco performances), 27 & 28 (Chicago performances), 2023
