LA Opera to Perform ‘Ainadamar’ with Ana María Martínez & Daniela Mack

The LA Opera is set to present the company premiere of Golijov’s “Ainadamar.”

The opera will be presented from April 26 through May 18 and will be led by Resident Conductor Lina González-Granados. Deborah Colker’s acclaimed production will be showcased.

When the production was shown at the Detroit Opera and Metropolitan Opera, OperaWire said it was a “Special Experience” and “effective.”

In a statement, Christopher Koelsch said, “Ainadamar is an astonishing work that reminds us of the critical role that artists play in defining and defending our humanity. The opera’s atmospheric sound world melds the classical operatic tradition with Spanish music and folk styling, an utterly beguiling combination that works brilliantly. I am so eager for our audiences to experience this modern-day masterpiece, especially with the truly brilliant cast we have assembled under the baton of Resident Conductor Lina González-Granados.”

The production will star Ana María Martínez, Daniela Mack, Vanessa Becerra, Alfredo Tejada, Nathan Bowles, Hyungjin Son, Vinícius Costa, and Gabrielle Turgeon.
