LA Opera To Broadcast ‘La Bohème’ On The Beach & Park

By David Salazar

The LA Opera is set to present a live broadcast of a performance of Puccini’s “La Bohème” on Sept. 28, 2019.

The live stream is set to take place the Santa Monica Pier as well as the Columbia Park in Torrance. The broadcast will start at 7:30 p.m. and end three hours later. Per a press release, those that choose to experience the performance at Torrence Park will get a chance to experience some pre-show activities starting at around 5:30 p.m.

The performance will star Marina Costa-Jackson as Mimì with Saimir Pirgu as Rodolfo in a production directed by Barrie Kosky. In its review of the opening night performance, OperaWire noted, “Kosky’s decision to have Mimì full of life until interval brilliantly transferred the opera’s center of gravity later so that the inevitable, when it occurred, was actually more devastating.”

The live stream events are free to the general public. However, those who RSVP will receive a special gift.
