LA Opera Connects Launched, New Company Logo Unveiled

By David Salazar

The Los Angeles Opera has announced LA Opera Connects, the new name for its education and community engagement activities.

The new name was revealed by Plácido Domingo, highlighting the company’s 29 different programs that reach out to more than 135,000 people. All the programs are broken up into four basic categories including Opera for All, Get on Stage, Classroom Integration, and Continuing Education. The company’s goals are to reach out to people of all ages, including children K-12 and seniors.

“LA Opera’s education and community programs are as foundational to our artistic identity as our mainstage productions on the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage or our eclectic range of Off Grand performances in other venues,” Domingo said in a press release. “For some time, we’ve wanted to convey—simply and effectively—the wonder and promise of these efforts. We believe that the new name, LA Opera Connects, will do just that.”

As part of the launch of LA Opera Connects, the company also unveiled a new logo for the entire company.
