LA Opera Announces Online ‘Opera Camp’

By David Salazar

The Los Angeles Opera has announced that its annual summer Opera Camp will be taking place online this summer.

In sum, there will be three two-week sessions with the first kicking off between June 22 through July 3. The second is set for July 13-24 with the final session taking place between July 27- August 7.

Throughout the program, students between ages 9-17 will engage with artists and leaders of the LA Opera.

Additionally, this year, students will collaborate in the creation of a new work entitled “The Song of Los Angeles.”

“At a time when Angelenos have been forced to isolate in their homes, The Song of Los Angeles arrives at the perfect moment,” said Stacy C. Brightman, Ph.D., Vice President of LA Opera Connects in a press release. “We envision the new piece as a musical quilt, full of hope and resilience, forming a bridge between communities and across the generations.”
