Kyle Ketelsen, Sir Bryn Terfel, Isabel Leonard & Andrea Carroll Lead Wiener Staatsoper’s Streaming Slate

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced the slate of operas that it will be presenting on its streaming platform over the next week.

Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” from 2020 kicks off the slate. The opera spotlights Helene Schneiderman, Nicole Car, Anna Goryachova, Larissa Diadkova, Andrè Schuen, Bogdan Volkov, Dimitry Ivashchenko, Dan Paul Dumitrescu, Mykola Erdyk, and Johanna Mertinz. Tomáš Hanus conducts the production by Dmitri Tcherniakov.

Streaming date: Nov. 30, 2021

Next up is a performance of Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” from 2018 which will showcase Andrea Carroll, Benjamin Bernheim, Mario Cassi, Paolo Rumetz, Ileana Tonca, Alfred Gaal, and Michael Burggasser. Frédéric Chaslin conducts the production by Otto Schenk.

A 2014 performance of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” with Sir Bryn Terfel, Peter Rose, Ricarda Merbeth, and Norbert Ernst follows. Graeme Jenkins conducts the production by Christine Mielitz.

Streaming date: Dec. 2, 2021

Isabel Leonard, Maxim Mironov, Alessio Arduini, and Luca Pisaroni star in a 2018 production of Rossini’s “La Cenerentola.” Jean-Christophe Spinosi conducts the production by Sven-Eric Bechtolf.

Streaming date: Dec. 3, 2021

Finally, the opera house will livestream Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” starring Kyle Ketelsen, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Philippe Sly, and Kate Lindsey. Philippe Jordan conducts the production by Barrie Kosky.
