Soprano Kristine Opolais is set to make her Turkish debut with two concerts on Oct. 5 and 8, 2022.

The Latvian soprano will perform alongside Turkish tenor Murat Karahan. Raoul Grüneis will conduct the Ankara Opera Orchestra in the opening showcase at the State Opera and Ballet in Ankara, before leading the Istanbul Opera Orchestra in the second performance at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.

In a social media post, Opolais noted that she has known Karahan for 14 years since they began their careers at the Latvian National Opera.

“These concerts also mark my Turkish debut, and I can’t wait! I hope you can join us in Ankara [and] Istanbul,” she noted. “These cities are fascinating and well worth a trip to have a special adventure. I hope to see you there and wish you all a great week!”

Following these concerts, Opolais is set to take on “Madama Butterfly” at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno on Oct. 21 and 23, 2022. She will then open 2023 with a concert in Lisbon alongside conductor Oksana Lyniv.
