Kristine Opolais Receives Honorary Doctorate in Greece

Kristine Opolais has received an honorary doctorate from Cyprus Academy of Music.

The soprano took to social media to announce the news noting, “I’m privileged to accept an honorary doctorate from the Cyprus Academy of Music (Est. 1956) and also become the first Artist to become an honorary member of the Athens Philharmonic, at an official ceremony to be held tonight in the Royal Suite of Hotel Grande Bretagne, hosted by the President and Music & Artistic Director of the two prestigious organizations, Yiannis Hadjiloizou.”

Opolais is receiving the award in recognition of her outstanding achievements and long-lasting international representation of the world of Opera.”

This summer Opolais is set to perform at the Bayerische Staatsoper and will headline a new production of “Tosca” at the Theater an der Wien next season.
