Konstantin Krimmel & Nicolai Ghiaurov Lead New CD/DVD Releases

This week audiences will get a chance to listen to world premiere recordings, a rarely performed work and a legendary recording of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.”
Ochre
Multiple-GRAMMY-winning ensemble The Crossing offers a new album born of cultural resonance, with new works by three of the most creative composers working today. The performances on “OCHRE” include works by George Lewis, Caroline Shaw, and Ayanna Woods.
Navona Records releases the album led by conductor Donald Nally.
Nadine Sierra & Pretty Yende in Concert
Deutsche Grammophon is set to release “Nadine Sierra & Pretty Yende in Concert.” The new album features the two sopranos in a live concert from Paris in 2023. The program includes familiar and timeless works by Leonard Bernstein, Victor Herbert, and Louis Guglielm as well as works by Donizetti, Rossini, Bellini, Delibes, Gounod, and Offenbach. Les Frivolités Parisiennes is conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti.
Fiat Lux
Pacific Symphony and Music Director Carl St.Clair releases the world premiere recording of “Fiat Lux” by composer Sir James MacMillan and librettist Dana Gioia. This is the 11th commercial recording by Carl St.Clair with Pacific Symphony.
Regards from Rochester
Rochester Choral Society commissioned Regards from Rochester to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2023. The work received its premiere on March 18, 2023 in Rochester Cathedral and was subsequently performed in Wells and Glastonbury respectively in April 2023. The album which is being released by Vivum Music Ltd features Harriet Mountford and Simon Thorpe. John Mountford conducts the recording.
Rued Langgaard: Antikrist
Naxos releases Deutsche Oper Berlin’s production of Rued Langgaard’s “Antikrist.” Stephan Zilias conducts Ersan Mondtag’s production.
Mythos: Schubert, Loewe
Konstantin Krimmel and Ammiel Bushakevitz record a new album on ALPHA featuring a selection of Lieder that contrasts the composers Franz Schubert and Carl Loewe through thematically related pairs of songs.
In My Heart Of Hearts: Music In Shakespeare’s Plays
Hannah Morrison and Marnix De Cat join the Hathor Consort under Romina Lischka bring to life a wealth of sensual Renaissance sounds from the time of Elizabeth I in pieces that could well have been performed at the Globe Theatre.
Don Giovanni
Orfeo releases a 1970 live recording of Mozart’s opera with Nicolai Ghiaurov, Victor von Halem, Gundula Janowitz, Stuart Burrows, Teresa Żylis-Gara, Geraint Evans, Rolando Panerai, and Olivera Miljakovi. The Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor and Wiener Philharmoniker are led by Herbert von Karajan.
