Klaus Florian Vogt Replaces Stephen Gould In Dresden

By Francisco Salazar

Stephen Gould has canceled tonight’s performance of “Tannhäuser” at the Semperoper.

The company announced that Klaus Florian Vogt will step in as the title character for Gould; Vogt will sing from the side of the stage, while Alexander Brendel performs on stage.

Vogt is one of the most in demand heldentenors of his generation who recently performed “Tannhäuser” in Wiesbaden and is set to portray the character in a revival at the Bayerische Staatsoper. He will also open a new production of “Die Tote Städt” at the Teatro all Scala and will sing “Lohengrin” at the Bayreuth Festival this summer. Next, he returns to the Semperoper as well as at the Hamburg State Opera.
Vogt joins a cast that includes Doreath Röschmann, Ekaterina Gubanova, Georg Zeppenfeld, and Christoph Pohl. Omer Meir Wellber conducts.
