Klára Kolonits Headlines Hungarian State Opera’s 2019-20 Season

The Hungarian State Opera has announced its 2019-20 concert season.

For this article, we will only focus on concerts with operatic or vocal selections.

The season will open with excerpts of Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito, ” Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5, and Rybnikov’s Symphony No. 6. The concert will feature violinist Haruka Nagao and conductor Gergely Kesselyák.

Performance Date: Sept. 30, 2019

Conductor Balázs Kocsár takes on Pierre de la Rue’s Requiem featuring the Hungarian State Opera Chorus. The concert will also showcase Arvo Pärt’s Symphony No. 3 and Honegger Symphony No. 3.

Performance Date: Oct. 28, 2019

The Verdi Requiem is set to feature soloists Gabriella Létay Kiss, Bernadett Fodor, Gergely Boncsér, and András Palerdi. Conductor Petr Popelka leads the concert.

Performance Date: Nov. 2, 2019

Klára Kolonits, Lúcia Megyesi Schwartz, István Horváth, and Kolos Kováts perform in the New Year’s concert which is set to feature Zoltán Kovács’ Three Dances and Beethoven Symphony No. 9. György Vashegyi conducts.

Performance Date: Jan. 1, 2020

Klára Kolonits and Szabolcs Brickner star in the 20th Century Christian Music Concert featuring Britten’s “Cantata Misericordium” and “The Prodigal Son.” It will also include Debussy’s  “Danse sacrée et Danse profane” and “L’enfant prodigue.” Michel Tabachnik conducts.

Performance Date: May 15, 2020
