Kentucky Opera Announces 2021-22 Season

The Kentucky Opera has announced its Brown-Forman 2021-22 season featuring two mainstage opera productions, a Holiday Celebration concert, and a Youth Opera Project.

A Holiday Celebration which will be the first concert of the 2021-22 season. The concert will be presented at the Brown Theatre and will feature the local Kentucky Opera Chorus and Soloists in a single performance.

Performance Date: Dec. 16, 2021

The first production of 2022 will be “Orfeo” by Gluck. The opera will be conducted by Judith Yan and directed by Kelly Kitchens. The work will star Catherine Martin in the title role.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11 & 13, 2022

“An American Dream” will follow. The opera by Jack Perla and Jessica Murphy Moo will be conducted by Joseph Mechavich and directed by Matthew Ozawa. Helen Huang, Nina Yoshida Nelsen, Ao Li, Morgan Smith, and soprano Emily Albrink star in the opera.

Performance Dates: April 8 & 10, 2022

The final work of the season will be “Robin Hood,” a youth opera written by Ben Moore and Kelley Rourke. The work will feature Kentucky Opera’s Youth Opera Project participants.

Performance Dates: June 10 & 11, 2022
