Kennedy Center Releases Statement Following Tragic Passenger Jet & Helicopter Collision

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has released a statement following the collision between a passenger jet and Army helicopter that left no survivors.

The center said, “We send our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims of American Eagle Flight No. 5342 and Sikorsky H-60. Our hearts are with our community and all of those impacted by this tragic accident. We are deeply grateful to the first responders from our area for their courageous efforts during this difficult time.”

On Wednesday night, Jan. 30, a passenger plane carrying over 60 people collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport outside Washington, DC. The collision occurred around 9 p.m. EST and the regional American Airlines plane had departed from Wichita, Kansas and was set to land in Washington D.C.
