
Kendrick Williams Among Performers at North Carolina Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
By David SalazarThe North Carolina Music Hall Of Fame has announced the performances for its 2024 induction ceremony.
Honoring North Carolina native Mary Cardwell Dawson, will be Kendrick Williams who has performed with such organizations as the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Carolina, North Carolina Opera, and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. He is also the author of the children’s book “Noah’s Big Opera Dream.
Dawson founded the National Negro Opera Company in 1941, which while it was short-lived due to Dawson’s death in 1962, the company produced over 110 opera and broke barriers for singers of color. The National Negro Opera Company performed at the Civic Opera House in Chicago, Griffith Stadium in Washington, and Madison Square Garden, and became the first Black opera company to perform at the Metropolitan Opera.
The North Carolina Music Hall Of Fame’s 2024 Induction Ceremony will take place on Oct. 17. Other performers include George Hamilton V, David Johnson & Band, Bobby Denton, H.C. McEntire, and the Tennessee Bluegrass Band.
